Anyone else with acid reflux?

i had it REALLY bad until I quit dairy. Sometimes I can't have beer too close to bedtime.
There was something on NPR yesterday about alleviating acid reflux through what you drink. The culprits were caffeine, alcohol, and fat:

Eating less and losing weight was the cure for me. My trigger was always spicy foods.0

I have seen an ease in symptoms after loosing some weight but also know my trigger foods. Pizza with thick tomato sauce, peanut butter, high fructose corn syrup, orange juice, too much bread. I am trying to focus on reducing gluten, sugar, and inflammatory foods. I now know I bloat when I eat too much food with wheat flour in it. I used to take an acid reducing pill, but my doctor recommended trying to change my diet instead, as some acid reducing pills are related to studies showing long term consistent use could potentially contribute to dementia.0

I know this is a really old thread - but since it has been revived - Anyone with persistent reflux symptoms should be checked for H pylori
It may not be the underlying cause but it should be excluded.1 -

Yes, and figure out ones trigger foods, and get a scope to figure out whether the entrance to the stomach closes properly. It doesn't in many people with poor connective tissue (which in itself is severely underdiagnosed).
My reflux triggers are very atypical: lean meat and too much protein in general, eggs are killing, even in small amounts, sometimes rooibos and black tea, but green tea and sweetbush tea is fine. I also don't have a problem eating protein that contains a fair amount of fat, but both separately in the same meal doesn't work. Which at times excludes most vegan protein for me. Absolutely no problems with masses of green tea, spices, bubbly drinks (don't really like them anyway), sour food.0 -
Glad to see this thread resurrected as I came on here seeking help for this issue. I’ve had a reoccurrence of very painful indigestion after losing weight. The same thing happened the last time I lost a significant amount of weight and only went away when I started putting it back on. Hopefully I’ll manage to keep it off this time (not throwing away a 10 st loss!) , but I really need to find a way of managing this as it affected my life hugely last time with no resolution. Anyone had the same issue after weight loss?0
