Me, too. It's like a friggin tree in an otherwise lovely salad. It's never in small pieces, either. You take it out and it's a giant cascading weed.

I have strong feelings about it, apparently.

    I just laughed... a lot.

It tastes good? And gives you good exercise chewing?

"Chicory is also known as curly endive or frisee. It has
jagged spidery leaves that grow in open heads from
a compact center. The leaves are crunchy and
assertive in flavor – bitter, but not as bitter as Belgian
endive or radicchio. Chicory needs a strong-flavored
vinaigrette, preferably based on red wine or sherry
    vinegar."

I like it in my salad. I don't like when my salad is mostly purple cabbage.

that stuff is actually really good with a little vinegar and salt sprinkled over it. There's a funky rule about it though :flowerforyou: ya gotta use your fingers when ya eat it...it tastes better that way :blushing:

    trust me:flowerforyou:

Just to be accurate curly endive = frisée, broad-leaved endive = escarole. Both are chicory plants and where I was raised, chicory was added to coffee. I have since learned that one should not ruin coffee with chicory and also salads should not be ruined with bitter tasting roots. Oh, you can keep your arugula too. 8^)

Not my thing, either, but it's FULL of nutrients, especially Vitamins A and K and manganese.
