Well, they all aren't adults here. There was a "22yo" poster that asked what she should wear to high school the next day.

And those kids are breaking the terms of service and should be reported and banned.

Maybe she truly was a high schooler...I remember this real creeper, age 21, who went to my high school. He was a "professional clown" when he wasn't in school and got his jollies by hanging out with really immature girls who thought he was clever. :/

Though I think we should be allowed to type some certain words on here, some posts (such as the fat person post today for those that saw it) really shouldn't be on here and need to be watched over and have mods on them etc. If you let people run around with no rules etc, they will indeed do whatever they feel and please and that can lead to very bad things.

It is was it is. Sometimes some moderation is needed to keep things from getting completely out of hand. And some of the topics get a bit out there, waaayyyy out there.

    Thanks, guys

i feel like you are trying to censor the opinions of the people who see another point of view... nobody has “hated on you” or said anything rude to you .. or even given you attitude ... just ... different opinions ...

i think all discussion is important, unless it is hateful and discriminating against a specific group, but discussions surrounding that matter are good with me

First of all, I never said anyone was "hating on me" so I'm not sure why you put it in quotes. And you don't think this is attitude? "ETA: Screaming over and over 'I'm an adult and I can do or say whatever I want' is a very immature attitude to have." Personally I do, because IMO I didn't come off as "screaming" that I could do whatever I wanted.... Taunto, Please show me where I was disrespectful.

    This isn't a democracy...this is basically a private business.

If you go to a store barefoot and without shirt, you get thrown out due to the law of "no shirt, no shoes, no service". Many businesses, even in state where its allowed, donot allow smoking inside premises. It's their business. If you don't like their policies, you can take your business elsewhere.

I am personally fine with the censorship here. And I am one of the people who have gotten in trouble more than once for saying things. And I still believe it is fine. Why? Because I donot want every immature kid coming in here screaming and cussing. Neither do I want this site to turn into a porn site where everybody is showing off the goods. They have certain adult hookup sites for that if you like

ETA: Screaming over and over "I'm an adult and I can do or say whatever I want" is a very immature attitude to have.

Those who want respect, give respect

Also, I didn't factor in that you don't have to be logged in to view the forums. That is definitely an understandable reason to censor the site. Hopefully one day, that will change (not specifically for censorship issues; more along the lines of protection from googlers and the 14 year olds who spam the Internet every summer). As for anyone who has answered, serious feedback or not, I do appreciate you taking the time to comment on the subject :flowerforyou:

I'm an admin on another completely unrelated forum so I can provide a bit of perspective from the other side, so to speak. On the forums I moderate, I try to leave things run but sometimes it is prudent, even necessary, to take action, whether locking threads, modifying, removing, even banning users as necessary.

The first amendment means the government isn't allowed to interfere with freedom of speech of citizens. The MFP isn't the government... and they aren't required to provide a free podium for anyone.

This is a private website and the MFP are not required to allow you access. If they choose to do so, you are subject their rules of conduct. If you feel constricted by that, perhaps you should start your own website?

I, too, help moderate a completely unrelated forum and we follow the same rules for this express reaon.
