  • So...if someone was ALWAYS fit and has done it RIGHT their whole life, and never ALLOWED themselves to get fat, and they have the body of a god, and nutrition and training expertise, years of schooling, a lucrative business training people, and all that...but their ticker didn't say they "lost weight".... then their advice sucks?

Tickers aren't everything. Plus, they can lie. I can go change mine right now to say I lost 100 pounds. Will that make me suddenly more credible?

No their advice sucks because they're too perfect to be human

That's nuts. I've never been overweight and I'm here for FITNESS and to tone up so I might not lose anything much at all. Why wouldn't you listen to the people who have never had a weight problem?
Because you're all evil hippies. Duh.

Ha...I eat evil hippies for breakfast *that's my secret...*

Wellll since you've only lost about 12% of your goal, I think I'll eat evil hippies for breakfast about 1x a week-12% of the time.

Do ya'll ever look at someone's ticker on the forums and decide whether anything they've said is worth listening to?

I do this all the time....If someone recommends that you try X, Y, or Z, and they've lost "0 lbs"...Fuhgeddabowdit.

Nope. A few years ago, I lost 34 pounds and dropped three sizes in 12 weeks. I kept it off for years. Then I changed my birth control and no matter what I do now, I cannot lose anything. I just bounce between 152 and 154. I can eat 500 calories a day or 1,800. I can exercise like a mad woman or sit on the couch and my weight will fluctuate between those two numbers.

So just because I have a hormonal issue that's causing me problems with losing at the moment (and caused a 20-pound gain) doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about. I figure others may be the same.

Once again, I'm not overweight, I don't have a 'goal' except to get stronger and fitter. My ticker is BS, I was just in a rush when I made it. But hey, choose not to listen to me on the basis of my ticker and I'll choose not to listen to you on the basis that you're a kid who obvs doesn't have the first clue.

I guess my sarcasm didn't come through there...Come on. Eating evil hippies for breakfast? You thought I was serious?

Nope. I don't feel a need to force people to prove everything that they say. I always do my own research anyway, and what works for someone doesn't work for everyone. Not everyone uses this site the same way. Some people don't log certain things. Nothing wrong with that at all. ANYONE can have some gem of wisdom to share, just because you don't think they have earned that wisdom in some intangible way on the internet doesn't change the fact that it is wisdom, if that's the way it resonates with someone...

I try not to be too judgmental. A person's diary may look horrible to me but may actually be a big improvement for the person. I saw one newbie mention she had walked 3 miles and right away a person had to come in and say that it wasn't long enough and she should push herself more. WTH? A person going from zero exercise to walking 3 miles a day is a good thing. I think a not of support was deserved.

I get slammed all the time for starving myself. I'm not. I have only cut out ketchup and made drastic changes concerning my coffee creamer habit. I did cut out red meat completely because I get sick when I eat it. I was only eating it once in a while so it wasn't a big change. My calories are usually very low now that the coffee creamer issue has been dealt with. No one looked at my diary and said a word about my food choices before, but now that my calories are so low everyone wants to be my therapist. It's just the difference in coffee creamer! Yet I am lectured by the online diet Gods almost daily.

Some of us have medical reasons and we eat the way we do and may not always feel like telling the world. Some people are new. Some people are just idiots. If you don't like what someone says.....move on.
