I put some frozen chicken in the fridge yesterday, hoping to cook it tonight. I don't think that is going to happen now, but don't know how long I can wait to cook it? My mom was always so paranoid about it and now I am too! How long is raw chicken good for after its been thawed??

even if you aren't going to eat it, cook it in the next day or two. Bake it in the oven as it requires very little of your attention. You can add a pasta sauce or can of cream soup. Then either refreeze it or heat it up for another meal.

    This one's true...

It also depends on how long it was unfrozen prior to going in the freezer. Poultry typically has a 4-5 day shelf life before the bacteria level becomes unsafe. Cooking it will kill the bacteria for the most part, but you will be eating decaying meat.

Best bet, just cook it and eat it at a later time if you aren't going to today.

it should be fine tomorrow since it's been in the fridge the whole time - it probably took most of the day to defrost the first day - I do that all the time! Here's a thought throw a marinade on it tonight and cook it tomorrow---nothing better than a days' marinade!
