Everytime I ride my bike more than 5 miles my fingers go numb. Right now I just have a cheap...dare I say it? Box store bike...I am wanting to upgrade but what would be causing this (numb 3 hours after) and what can I do (besides get a new bike) to help.

i crochet and knit. when i sit in the same position for a while, my hands go numb.
i assume its a nerve/circulation thing from the way your body is positioned on the bike.0 -
Hi
Does your bike have front suspension? It sounds like your riding position is wrong, maybe go to the bike shop and see if it is possible to adjust the set up?
Things to try: -
Wider handle bars
Longer stem
Riser bars (so you are more upright) therefore less pressure on your hands
Bar ends (vary the position of your hands)
Your best bet is probably to sit more upright
Hope that helps0 -
Yes this helps a lot!! Thank you so much!!0
