Do you count fruit sugar?

No, I don't count sugar from fruits. I don't watch my sugar number, and took it out of my diary. I watch my carbs and try to not eat stuff with added sugar, that's it. That's the point, right? Eat healthy stuff and don't eat junk food? Cranberries and apples aren't going to make me fat. You can abstain from certain fruits because of their content of other stuff, if you like. Fruit is yummy, though.0

I agree with this. I do not add the sugar that comes from fruit. In the beginning I tried that and I ended up not eating ANY fruits or veggies, and my caloric intake was WAY down!
Sugar from fruits and veggies, I THINK, is ok. It's the added sugars and sugars from processed foods we have to count and keep under control. That is my opinion.0 -
It's the same as any other sugars so I count it.

I know this is an old post but alot of people are misinformed saying sugar is sugar no matter what its from,
true in a way but if you had 5gram of granulated refined white sugar and 5gram sugar content say in eating an apple your body is going to deal with them sugars totally different, refined sugar is immediately available to our body as energy if not used converted to fat, if you ate an apple the sugar is digested and realeased more slowly and will more likely be used as energy than stored as fat,
My daily allowance is 80g per day if I had that amount from granulated sugar, soft drinks, etc I would be far more likely to gain weight than if I had the same amount in fruit, as all sugars in soft drinks etc are man made, meaning it is not a naturally found sugar but extracted and refined to make it more concentrated
Also just to add if you had fruit in liquid form I.e orange juice then I would count the sugar content as it is immediately available to your body for energy
So eat as much fruit as you want, (within reason) it is far less in calories and far higher in nutrients than most quick snacks0 -
If you ignore the sugars and still losing weight, it's ok I think. I use to count them though, not because I think I 'll gain weight if I ignore them but when I eat more sugars even from fruit I find myself more hungry. That's because of fruit's glycemic index. When I eat fruit I add a small amount of nuts (not over 8-10) or at least 1-2 tbs greek low fat yogurt. Because of the protein and fat, included in these foods, I have lower glycemic load and less spikes.0
