First off, I'm new here. Hi!
I downloaded the myfitnesspal onto my phone July 30th, so I guess that's when I started this journey to lose weight & be healthy!
I'm 5'7" and right now weigh 242lbs. I was around 250lbs, give or take a pound, in the middle of July.
Here's what I'm doing to lose weight:
-Eat 1500 calories a day.
-Cut out pop, junk food.
-30 mins of cardio in the am, and 30 minutes of cardio after work (on days that I work)
-An hour of cardio and 30 mins of weights at the gym (on days I don't work)
-Eat way more fruits & veggies.
So, I'm down a few pounds but I've been stuck at 242 for a few days now which is frustrating. I thought because I was so heavy, that the pounds would really drop off like, 1 every 4 days or so. I am trying really hard..(and am finding myself starving some days..) I tried measuring myself but have a hard time doing it myself. I don't think it's accurate at all.
I should also mention that before I started this journey, I ate whatever I wanted. McDonalds several times a week. Couple 2L of pop a week. Chips. Everything!
Anyone have any tips they can throw my way? What worked for you? I need some success stories! Hopefully from some people that can relate!

Hi! I am relatively new here too - just finished my first month. I've lost 10 pounds and have gone from a size 24 to a 20. I attribute some of that to walking daily and doing Pilates videos a few times a week. I feel much more energized. I am using a fitbit and find myself actually looking for opportunities to walk up extra stairs and extra steps.
Some things I learned along the way so far is that I really need to measure my ingredients when cooking. A very difficult transition for a person who has eyeballed it for most of her cooking. It's a learning adventure.
My biggest food challenge has been dealing with the carb and chocolate cravings during my cycle!0 -
First off, congratulations on your loss!
I've never tried pilates but am thinking of looking into it.
My biggest food challenge has to be the fact that I just never cared! My favourite thing to do in the evening was stretch out on the couch in front of my TV with chips and pop. I loved it. I miss it a lot but I just FEEL so much better now. I wake up with energy. I sleep better. My overall mood is better. Would I trade that for a bag of chips and pop? Maybe...;) I'm so new to this that I have to talk to myself everyday and tell myself it's all worth it.
I also need to learn how to cook. I'm absolutely awful at it, and with my occupation and working hours, I don't have too much time. That may sound like an excuse but it's the truth. And when I DO have time, I do try to learn and cook, fiddle around. I work 12:30pm to 9pm almost every day. I get days off here and there. I wake up at 9am, do my cardio, eat breakfast, get ready for the day, throw together my lunch and supper (salads, lean cuisines) run personal errands, then work. When I get home, I do cardio again and off to bed I go.0 -
Stuck for a few days? The best tip I can give you is to have a little patience. I sometimes see the scale stick for days or a week and then Whoosh! the weight comes off. All that working out makes you retain water. Take a day off from exercise if you aren't doing so either. Let your muscles recover.
I would keep doing what you're doing and see what happens in a week or two. Then, change things up if you are still stalled.0 -
I understand the no time thing! One of my most helpful things for cooking has been a good non-stick grill pan. When I go shopping I often buy chicken and freeze it in a ziploc with some italian dressing. Then I take a bag out and put it in the fridge the night before. Microwave some sweet potatoes and veggies while I do the chicken on the grill pan.0
