food diary contains way more than the average person?

I look at my food diary and I am so shocked by the amount of foods I have eaten during the day, it almost looks like an essay it's so lengthy! I don't think that could possibly be a good thing. I remember when I used to diet my day's food would consist of about 4 different food items and I lost a lot of weight that way.
If you look at my diary I'm sure you'd agree that I'm eating way too many unnecessary calories but I just don't know how to change and what I should be eating to lose weight?

i think its good to eat constantly through out the day, your body starts to trust you and burns the calories more quickly (aka your metabolism raises)
as long as you are eating adequate calories from healthy foods i don't see a problem0 -
Everything in your diary looks good to me! Pretty healthy meals, not a high calorie count. Most of the foods you are eating are naturally such low calorie you can afford to eat a lot! Embrace it0

Your metabolism doesn't raise because you are eating throughout the day. You can eat one meal a day if you wanted or six meals. It ends up being about calories at the end of the day. 1500-1600 cals is great - awesome that you are getting variety in there. Some days my diaries are longer as I log every individual fruit/veggie/item and other days I use a recipe I already input so it shows one line for my dinner. The important thing is to be sure you are getting enough protein and fat (MFP defaults are too low for protein!).0

Your food diary doesn't look bad to me, mine looks like a book too Except this week since I'm taking a logging break.0

Your diary looks great to me! Different foods is how we get different nutrients you're treating your body well!
Edit to add: mine looks like a book too. I've noticed that when I eat better foods, I have a longer diary. When I eat crap, it'll have like 4 things.0 -
I don't think there's anything wrong with your diary at all. It looks good. My diary can look like a book too especially when I make something new haven't entered it in as a recipe yet0

As long as your staying within your calorie goals. If you cut your calories back too much, you will lose some weight, but it wont last. Its more about what you eat. As long as you stay in your goals and avoid to much junk you should be fine.0

Yes, I can relate. I often feel really unnerved by the number of foods on my diary each day, but it is things like the flax and peanut flour I add to my quark, plus the 3 pieces of fruit, and I eat an awful lot of vegetables with my dinner, which is often 2 protein items like salmon and cottage cheese or salmon and egg. It adds up, but most of it is healthy.0

1500 calories is by no means "way more than the average person." It's a normal, healthy diet, probably less than what the "average person" eats, not even counting people who overeat. You're fine.0

I think your diary looks fine. Mine is usually around 2000 calories, and its working for me0

It looks good to me. You're not going over, and you're eating a variety of foods - I don't see a problem. Mine always has a long list of items too - but I like a variety of a lot of little things, so it looks like a lot of items, but it's not a crazy amount of food.0

I think it looks great! I have a friend who says she likes looking at my diary because I get the most food out of my calories. And I do...it works for me!0

IMO, for me, it isn't so much about the calories as the carbs. The more carbs I eat, the harder it is to lose weight. I do the best on about 100g net per day. Feel free to look through my diary to see how I make it work and still allow for occasional fast food and treats0 -
Lol, you should look at mine sometime, there are lots of us that can make our calories cough up a lot of food and we lose weight just fine and we are rarely so hungry we binge.0

Mine is always lengthy lol. Unless I have added a recipe, my meals look like I am eating the whole grocery store lol. But to make it easy, I save my basic meals (like my typical lunches or breakfasts) and so I just add a "meal" and MFP puts in all that info for me
**Edited to say that I eat about 1800-2000 calories and still lose0 -
I make lots of my own food with raw and whole ingredients. Even just a salad, my log could be a mile long.0
