What do you do to help stress?

Normally I eat a bunch of really bad for me foods when I get super stressed, I don't want to do that, but I don't know what to do to help when stress gets to be to much. I am going to go for a walk in a bit to see if that will help but I would love some other ideas. I'm not talking everyday stress but extra stress.

  • Yoga. I'm in love with it.
Listening to music helps me too, and maybe even dancing around to it :P

Running or hiking. I'm the opposite of most people. Normally, I have a pretty good appetite and enjoy food. But I don't eat when stressed. When I'm stressed and not eating right, I get the physical sensations of lightheadedness, nausea and headache before I realize I haven't eaten. At those times I really make sure I'm picking nutritious choices because it does actually improve my mood when I'm eating well.

If you really do feel the need to eat "comfort" food when you're stressed, load up your cupboards/fridge/freezer with healthy "comfort foods". Like for me, right before bed is when I want a treat, but instead of going for a big bowl of ice cream, I trick myself by having half a cup of yogurt mixed with a bunch of frozen berries/mango/banana/whatever other fruit I feel like, and it does the EXACT same thing as ice cream would have, but in a wayyy healthier way. Also, diet swiss miss is a lifesaver :) I get my cup of hot chocolate most nights before bed, for only 25 calories! You can mix one bag of it in with a really big mug (my big mug is about 1.7 times the size of a regular mug) of water, and add a bit of plain cocoa powder and artificial sweetener for a 30ish cal really big mug of hot chocolate that'll last you a good 20 mins to half hour if you go at it slowly...that should def slow down the binging on other junk foods
