Adjusting to portion sizes?

Hi everyone!
I've recently started getting serious about losing weight and learning to eat right.
I always knew that I ate too much (hence the weight) but I had no idea how many servings I had been eating! Now that I'm starting to eat the 1 serving when it comes to snacks, measuring my cereal in the morning, pre-made meals, etc. and I feel like it's such a small amount.
I'm not complaining and I'm going to stick with it....but I'm wondering: If you had this same issue when you changed your eating habits: How long did it take for the smaller portions to feel normal?
Stupid question...but you get used to it right?

To me thats the hardest part of dieting, like cereal for example most serving are like 1/2 to 3/4 at like 150 cal each serving, so today i measured how much cereal i has after i poured in the bowl, man was i overeating, my bowl serving was almost 3 servings! But i do find that it gets easier0
