I've read lots of great weight loss success stories..and it's great and all..but I'm wondering if some successful weight gainers could give us gainers some tips and guidance.

I hope this thread can be a place where ppl like me can get help and everyone else could offer an opinion from your own experience or that of others.

I'll start off with my concerns.

I started out in mid march at 47kg (~103 lbs) with the goal to become 75kg / 165lbs
Now I am almost at my first milestone of 55kg / 121lbs. (Between 54 and 55 right now)
I noticed a little muscle gain on my arm and also a bit more meat on my upper body..
For almost 8kg...is that all one can expect?!?!

Some additional info: 22yrs old, man, 180cm

I'm a girl gainer, still early in the game, you must have been tiny, I'm at 107 now, up from 97, so its a 10lb (5kg) gain..and the difference was less than I expected, I look better, but not bigger, I think I look even smaller, more compact, though I have built muscle, Still I'm easily looking at another 10-13lbs (5-6kg) So I totally understand you feeling the way you do,

Regardless, I'll send you some links to the gainer groups so you can meet some like minded people.

Don't know if this the kind of thing you're looking for, but when my daughter was an infant, she was diagnosed as "failure to thrive". She was 8 months old & only weighed 11 pounds (was 6 lbs 12 oz. at birth). She simply wouldn't eat very much. We were given a list of things to try to boost calories without adding very much volume.

    > Cream based soups instead of broth based
    > Stir sour cream into soups, gravies, sauces
    > Stir cheese into cereal (for adults, this could translate into adding to grits, or similar)
    > cheese sticks as a snack
    > we'd microwave a whole, small potato & cut up
    > bananas as a snack
    > make sure you get enough iron - multivitamin or iron-specific tablet

In my daughter's case, we found out her bone age was behind her chronological age (unknown why) and were told she would catch up to growth curve - she finally did the summer after fourth grade. She is petite, but doing fine (now 24 yers old)

Hello Howy. Trust me you are not alone. There are several people on here, including myself, whose goal is to gain weight. Some wish to bulk up, my goal is to simply put on some weight. I can make muscle, but I need some fat to do that.
I used to be very fit, a lot of muscle in all the right places, when I was 18-20 years old. I've always been skinny and most of my family is the same way. I weighed 130-135 for a long time, and at 21 I was my heaviest at 145 and you could REALLY see the difference. Once I began professional school I lost back down to 130-135. That was four years ago. Now that I've graduated and started my new job, I've lost 10 pounds and am down to 125. In my case that is not a good thing (I'm a male, 26 years old, 5'9"). I've used MFP on and off several times, but have just recently started back. My goal is to get back to atleast 135, but so far I've stalled out at 126. It's difficult to eat 3,000 some calories while also trying to health conscious. I could easily eat 5 Big Macs a day, but my family has a bad history of heart disease so I have to try to gain in a healthy way.
Stick with it and let us know what progress you've made. There aren't many of us out there trying to GAIN weight so it would be great to hear back from others. Good luck!
