I'm off to Barcelona next week, i'm going for three nights and four days.

what i am really concerned about is if i'm going to gain weight? i always feel guilty if i eat something i should't have but i have decided that i'm not going to worry about this whilst i am away and enjoy myself but what are the chances of gaining weight? apart from walking around the city, i very much doubt i will be excersing much and will be indulging into a few paella's i imagine!

thanks :)

That's up to you, isn't it? There's no way to figure the chances of it...

That depends on what YOU decide to eat while you're there. Choose healthy foods, and don't overeat and make sure you exercise and I'm sure you won't gain any weight (maybe water weight, but that's gone in a couple days anyway).

    consider this...

Assuming you are eating a 500 calorie deficit right now, to gain weight you need to NET at least 500 more calories per day. Depending on the vacation (I'm American ;-)), you might be more active than normal due to touring/walking. Finally, its only 4 days.

So, unless you go utterly out of control, you will probably be fine. Remember that a lb of fat is 3500 calories above your maintenance calories, so in order to gain 1 lb, you would need to net 5500 (assuming a current 500 calorie deficit) MORE than what you are currently eating over the 4 day period. Use some common sense and you might even continue to lose.

PS- the scale will probably go up because of sodium intake while travelling. Just drink a lot of water while you are there and once you get back and you will be fine.
