According to my bodybugg, anywhere between 400-600 for an hour of high intensity cardio.

I try to work out 30-45 minutes, 7 days a week. My regular calorie burn is between 275 and 450 :D

I'm doing 600 calories burned per 45 min session on the treadmill by setting the slope @7.5% and varying the speed between 3.5 & 4 mph (generally about 1 min at 3.5 followed by 4 mins at 4.0. Then "rinse & repeat" for the next 40 mins.

Then I do another 30 mins on a circuit on the weights/machines. Depending on the day that includes 3 circuits of 12 reps of bench press, triceps, pull down, 2-arm biceps curl, 1 arm iso-lat pulls, leg extesions, leg curls, hip adduction, hip abduction, and vertical leg lifts - knees bent or knees straight. I don't do all exercises each day but break them up to make the total time 30 mins. Don't use a lot of weight as I'm doing them more for muscle tone 'cause I'm an old guy with "batwings" and other maladys of old age that I'd like to lose, if possible.

The answer to your question is: Are you tired when you're done? Just the words "intense cardio" make an old guy like me tired.

Your body will tell you when you've had enough. Either that or your watch  because you have to be somewhere else. At least that's when I know its time to quit. Because I do my workouts after work and before I go home for dinner, I know when its time to quit.

I have been doing about 20-30 minutes of cardio every time I work out. I usually burn between 225-325 calories doing so.I also do ab exercises and some strength training every time I work out as well.

I work at an indoor pool so I swim when I can for at least 20 minutes at a time. I believe those calories come out to be around 180.

I also baton twirl with a team and have a 2 hour practice once a week. That usually burns around 350 calories.

I've been losing weight and gaining muscle mass so far so I must be doing something right.
