Hey ladies I could really use your help. I am 23 and I weigh 98 kilos. Up until now, I have never faced any problem regarding my TOM. Heavy bleeding but it gets over in about 5 days. However, since I started losing(5 kilos in 3 months) I have noticed my period is getting heavier and longer. Infact, my last period and my current one have been going strong for 15 days straight with a gap of just 10 days between them. Do you think I have PCOS? I need to visit the doctor this week, but I would like to know what you guys think :)

Thanks and sorry for all the details!

    Exactly. Doctor, soon!
  • go to a doctor.

Agreed. Check with your doctor. I started having super heavy long period and I found out I have something called Adenomyosis. It could be other things besides PCOS.

If nobody said this, go to the doctor....
  • Well, any sort of change to your diet/exercise/stress/environment/etc can cause changes in your cycle. However, I would likely consult your physician. In the end they might give you something to help regulate. I don't think it's any reason for concern, however. Although it would be mightily annoying to me!

Start taking an iron pill right away, and go see your doctor.

There are so many things it could be that you need to have blood test and other stuff to really figure it out. It could be a slight hormone imbalance or something else. I had horrible periods for years and it turns out I had fibroids, adenomyosis, and adhesions. I wish I had seen a dr. about it sooner since I could have been relieved of the suffering much sooner than I was. Most def take iron since heavy bleeding can cause anemia and you will feel like crap if that happens. Trust me, it has taken me about a year of taking iron to get back to normal.

Thanks for your advice everyone! Yes I will. I had gone about a month back and the doctor said it was because I had started to make some changes in my diet and exercise. It's irritating to have such a long period :( Thanks for the concern guys!

I know it's been said a number of times, but I'd go see a doctor. Changes in your cycle are common with weight loss but it is normally in the other direction - IE less period, not more...
