So I get on the thing and it shows I've lost. I'm extatic because it's not just a littlebit.

Then I get on again Just to make sure it wasn't wrong. (the weight loss really was kind of hard to believe)
It showed I had lost an additional half pound in all of 30minutes.... Yeah something was wrong. So I took it to the kitchen and it
showed me to be heavier by 1.2lbs.

WTF?!?!?!

So I get new batteries, put them in the scale, now it's weighing me consistently. Consistently at the heaviest weight this morning. All the weight i thought I had lost was in fact a lie. :(

Turns out I gained.

Wanna talk about demoralizing? Yeah that was it right there.

    1. Your battery has probably been causing problems longer than you know.

    2. Drop the Almost from your title and follow through. Seriously. Throw it away. Scales are evil.

I think the scale is broken, but scales aren't evil :P You should weigh yourself once a week, even if you reach your desired weight, just to keep track and make sure you're not gaining a lot...

Start over with a new scale like you didn't lose/gain

    Good luck!

Man I totally empathize with you, the scale has an eerily powerful effect on me :(

I've learned to rely more on measurements, it's way less stressful! I still get on the scale every week or so but I remind myself how many things can affect the number! When a measurement changes, however, you know it's a visible change. I suggest making measurement related goals, it has taken a lot of anguish out of weight loss for me!

If you move it to a different location the weight can differ. If you put it on carpet, it can be inaccurate. And if the floor is not level, that can affect it too

Probably has just as much to do with the different floors as the new batteries. The firmness of the floor will have a huge effect. Wood versus granite tile vs vinyl flooring etc.

    I have all tile.

I keep my scale on the exact same square because I found it was most consistent with that single square in the bathroom.

There is a single tile square in the kitchen that measures the same (and no I didn't go around measuring on each square in my house)

That's how I knew something was wrong.

I was down last night from what I weighed that morning (thought that was peculiar)
Then I was down even more this morning. (half a pound - I always weigh AFTER my morning excretions)
Then I was down 30minutes after that (half a pound)
    Then 2minutes I'm up by 1.2lbs.

    Conclusion... Somethin' aint right.

I am glad I weighed last night because I would have gone all day thinking I lost when I had gained. I weighed last night on a whim to see what all my food and water from the day weighed. LOL.

I agree with some of you... I think it's time for a new scale. I don't want something that changes within 5minutes without moving it.
