I don't know if you like boil cabbage but it's a filling and really low on calories, 35 calories a cup. Half a head of cabbage makes plenty. Place cut up cabbage in a large pan, fill with water to just cover the cabbage, I add some beef bouillon,salt and pepper to give flavor Boil 20 -30 minutes. Yum Yum.0

cabbage rolls, or lazy man cabbage roll casserole YUM! )
i made "lazy man cabbage rolls' the other day in the crockpot [could do reg ones as well.. ]
just chopped up cabbage and onion put it in the crock pot.
put in some ground beef [broken up so its doesnt cook as a big lump lol
1 cup of rice
can of diced or crushed tomatoes poured over top
and about a can [from the tomatoes] of water poured over top
set on low and let it go
check on it at somepoint incase you need more water for the rice..i think i put mine to cook a bit too long and so rice was a bit mushy but still enjoyed it
most recipes call for can of tomato soup but i didn't see the need for the extra cals
its in the data base if you type in cabbage rolls you will see lazyman ones, i think it's like 2 Cups for 200 something cals
easy recipe to adapt to your own tastes.0 -
The Crunchy Wasabi Salmon uses Cabbage, but the purple variety, so I don;t know if it would work for you!0

Make a soup. Minestrone, vegie, whatever. Cabbage works well in most all of them.0

B'less skinless Chix breast cut in small strips, sautee in free italian salad dressing,
toss in a head of cabbage 1" chop and a cup of water, S&P, maybe some more dressing.
Cover, simmer stirring when you think of it, 20 mins or 'til cabbage is done to your taste,
Very good, very light, chicken's lite and the cabbage is practically free.0 -
If you didn't already use it last night, one of my favorites it to cut it into chunks, wrap in foil with some turkey sausage, and bake in the oven - around 350 for about an hour. Great served with pinto beans, low calorie, and very yummy!0

I love Halushki and eat this by itself as a meal. It is very savory and a little sweet. If you follow this recipe, the entire pan is around 200 calories (depending on how much noodles you use):
you need: 1/4 head cabbage, 2 cloves garlic, 1 small or 1/2 large onion, some sort of oil/butter, and noodles
Cook some noodles (I like egg noodles for this) according to the package directions;
Cut the cabbage into thin strips;
Heat 1 Tb olive oil or butter (go for it, it's worth it!) over medium heat in a large skillet
Slice or mince the garlic and throw it in the oil;
Slice the onion into strips about the same width as the cabbage;
Stir frequently so that cabbage and onions don't brown or carmalize (if they do, that is ok, I just don't like the taste of it) until cabbage and onion are opaque.
Whenever the noodles are done, throw them in the skillet and let them get all worked up into the cabbage and onions. Keep stirring and cooking until the cabbage and onions are opaque.0
