Hey guyz,

So I know it's bad to eat before going to bed cause less calories are burned...but do you think a protein shake about 1h before going to bed is bad? thanks in advance :)

    Hey guyz,

Provided your total daily intake of calories puts you in a deficit, it makes no difference when you eat what, in terms of net fat gain.

Acute fat storage is irrelevant. What is relevant is the long term difference between fat storage and fat oxidation. When you eat your calories at night, fat oxidation is increased during the day. When you eat most or all of your calories during the day, fat oxidation is reduced during the day and increased at night.

The net effects of fat loss are driven by energy balance over long periods of time. What happens in the snapshot of time after you eat that meal or drink that shake, is largely unimportant.

I eat every night before I go to bed because of my work schedule. I'm 5'4" and 110 lbs. I've been doing this for years and I'm not fat. Like other posters have said, it's about your total intake and deficit. If your protein shake is yummy, go for it :)
