"Hearty" Breakfast bars!
This quick recipe contains no added sugar, except from the chocolate chips which can be omitted. All the sweetness comes from the super ripe bananas and fruit elements. In some way, I feel making these at home are much more economical and healthier than the store-bought ones. I feel better knowing what went into it.
Ingredients
Start with bran, oatmeal and super ripe bananas as your base, then add your choices of dried fruit and optional chocolate chips.
* Oatmeal
* Bran
* Pecans
* Chocolate chips
* Dried cranberries
* Super ripe bananas
* Honey
* Salt
* Mash bananas in the bow.
* Put all the dry ingredients in the bowl.
* Drizzle honey.
* Add a dash of salt.
* With a spatula, mix ingredients well. It would resemble a sticky lumpy mixture. Add more oatmeal or bran if your mixture is too watery.
* Using a cookie cutter of your choice.
* On a lined baking tray, take spoons of granola mixture and press down into cookie cutter.
* Make each 'cookie' about half inch thick.
* Baked in a 350 degree F oven for 25mins or until breakfast hearts look golden brown.
