Anyone have any thoughts on this? I am doing low carb, so know that if I go off the diet and increase my carbs then my body will retain more water. If I am eating more salt will that have any affect on how much water is retained?

Yes, it will. If you're retaining fluid, I would suggest cutting back your salt intake and increasing your potassium intake as well as drinking lots of water. And by water I mean water, not water plus crystal light or mio.0
