Dominating the "big meal."

I think I am finally figuring this eating stuff out. I hit the first of my thirteen 20-pound loss milestones earlier this week and wanted to enjoy a nice meal without going off program. So we ordered a bunch of really fun and extravagant food (shrimp cocktail, lobster rolls, lobster mac and cheese, lobster bisque, whoopie pies, etc.), and balanced it out with healthier choices (corn on the cob, healthy cole slaw, big salad and blackberries for lunch). By eating the less healthy foods in smaller portions, and complementing them with larger portions of the healthy foods, I enjoyed the flavor of the extravagant stuff but became filled up by the bulkier, more healthy stuff. And most important of all, even with our dinner feast (including dessert), I still came in 160 calories UNDER for the day. I have to confess that I did pass out in my easy chair at 8pm after all of that, so I missed my walk. But even after about a month on this program, I do not feel deprived, and am now energized to make more healthy choices in my eating. Here's the biggest surprise of all. After several weeks of relatively healthy eating, I realized that I do not like the sensation of feeling full after a big heavy meal. That doesn't sound like much of a revelation to many of you, but it is a big step for me. Here's to a great Friday for all of us.

That's awesome! Good for you!
I am having some trouble getting kickstarted again at the halfway point, but in the 70lbs that I lost previous to this, I always tried not to reward with food because I would take it too far. Instead, I still eat some of those extravagant things through the process. Ie - I don't eat a candy bar every day, but if I REALLY want one, and it's because I want it, not because it's convenient or it's there - and I almost always have my boyfriend or a friend along with me that will take half. Then every 10lbs marker, I would buy myself some new equipment that could somehow help me on the way (I bought a blender, new stability ball, etc) every 10lbs or so. I am definitely coming to understand my relationship with food in a different way now that I have.
And good for you for still logging! I have such a hard time logging when I get to the end of the day and might not be eating as clean as I did through the day.0 -
That sounds delish! Keep up the hard work!0
