Creamy French Dressing - Need Help
Hello,
I made this french dressing today and it is very creamy and very good. I took an old recipe and adapted it to what I THINK is good for you or at least much better than the original. I do not know how to use the recipe analyzer and am hoping someone can work it out for me/us and let me know if it's ok to use.
Here is the recipe.
This made 2 1/2 cups
3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 c. splenda
1 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 can Healthy Request Tomato Soup
1 TBLSP. Worstechire Sauce
1 tp. Paprika
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 cup minced onion ( I used dried)
salt and pepper
Mixed all in blender.
I used 4 TBLSP on my salad and it was plenty!
I hope that it works out to be ok to have!!
Thanks much!
Gwen

This is what I got for the enitre recipe:
Calories 2,089.0
Total Fat 226.4 g
Saturated Fat 32.7 g
Polyunsaturated Fat 32.6 g
Monounsaturated Fat 160.1 g
Cholesterol 0.0 mg
Sodium 2,347.1 mg
Potassium 431.9 mg
Total Carbohydrate 49.9 g
Dietary Fiber 4.0 g
Sugars 13.7 g
Protein 2.2 g
Vitamin A 72.9 %
Vitamin B-12 0.0 %
Vitamin B-6 14.1 %
Vitamin C 8.7 %
Vitamin D 0.0 %
Vitamin E 0.3 %
Calcium 1.9 %
Copper 3.0 %
Folate 1.9 %
Iron 11.6 %
Magnesium 4.0 %
Manganese 7.4 %
Niacin 5.4 %
Pantothenic Acid 1.2 %
Phosphorus 2.7 %
Riboflavin 7.3 %
Selenium 0.5 %
Thiamin 3.1 %
Zinc 2.0 %
1 cup is 16 tablespoons. So if your recipe yielded 2.5 cups, that's 40 tablespoons.
1 tablespoon =
Calories 52.2
Total Fat 5.66
Saturated Fat .82g
Polyunsaturated Fat .82
Monounsaturated Fat 4g
Cholesterol 0.0 mg
Sodium 58.6mg
Potassium 10.8mg
Total Carbohydrate 1.25
Dietary Fiber 1 g
Sugars .34g
So, 4 tbs would have 4x all that. 208.8 calories, 22.64 grams of fat, etc.
While I'm sure it's much better than the original in terms of calories and sugar and carbs, that's still an awful lot of calories and fat for a salad dressing. Maybe try using half as much next time? Also, what I would probably try to do is substitute water (or skim milk?) for some of the EVOO. While EVOO is a good fat and is good for you in moderation, like most things it's not good for you in excessive amounts. Also, in my honest (humble) opinion, I would be a little uncomfortable using so much sucralose (splenda). That's a personal choice, though.
I used the Sparkrecipes calculator. http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp I hope I helped. :flowerforyou:

Thank you so much...That was a big help. I will make some adjustments and post what I did. It is NOT good for me so I will be using 1/2 the amount on my salad until it is gone. I will also try your suggestion of using the water or skim milk in place of 1/2 the oil. I'm thinking as sweet as it was that I could maybe use 1/2 the splenda.
Thank you again
