Hey Everyone!!!
My name is Angel, I was that girl who was like 96lbs all the way through high school and everyone was jealous. Now.. not so much. I was put on various medications since I was 18 and they have all caused me to gain weight at my highest I was at 150lbs! I then picked up some not so legal addictions as well which didn't help but was a poor way of dealing with a tragedy in my life. November of last year I went to rehab and cleaned EVERYTHING out of my system through medical detox. I dropped to 125lbs and was so happy but I quit smoking cigarettes back in may and I have gained 15lbs bringing me back up 140lbs. I am so unhappy at this weight as none of my awesome post-addiction clothes fit!! I would really like to get back down to at least the 125lbs if not 115lbs. I'm finding through calorie counting that I was eating way too many calories. I'm one of those people who are ALWAYS hungry! So counting calories is difficult for me to start, my food world revolves around carbs and starches which apparently have alot of calories. Does anyone have any advice for me starting out in this journey? Any and all advice accepted!!
Thank you all!!

Hello, I won't pretend to understand what it feels like to go what you have gone through, but I wish you best of luck to win the battle of the bulge :-). In this sense, we are all in the same boat. And speaking for myself, I am ALWAYS hungry too. So keeping my calories to/near/under my daily allowance is very hard. French fries will always be tempting to me, no matter how much weight I lose. Sometimes I do cave in, but most of the time I do not. And I feel quite proud of that. I guess what I am saying, even if you slip up, it is important that you shrug it off, and focus on the next day. I realized that is the single most important lessen I have learned from my yo-yoing weight. Good luck.
P.S. Feel free to add me as a friend, if you would like to.0 -
You have to eat protien, espically with your carbs. Eating carbs and protien together does a few good things for you - the protien helps keep you full longer, protien makes your body digest the carbs slower, so you have less of a blood sugar spike/crash (which usually makes me more hungry). I eat almost nothing but protien for breakfast and find that I am usually not hungry for lunch. But if I eat carbs, I'm hungry much sooner and need a snack before lunch. So add some protien.0

FIrst of all. :flowerforyou: CONGRATULATIONS:flowerforyou: on overcoming your addiction!!!! I have a soft spot for carbs to. What I did was allowed myself 150 carbs a day then gradually reduced them as my tastes for carbs gradually declined. I also rewarded myself for reaching goals or paying myself a dollar for every time I worked out. You may want to set a carb goal and for everyday you stay below it pay yourself a dollar and after collecting $50 reward yourself with a mani/pedi. Good luck with everything!! :happy:0
