Can anyone give me some advice about a clicking knee?

I started running about 2.5 years ago. About 18 months ago my right knew became incredibly sore and started clicking whenever I went up and down stairs.

The pain has subsided but the clicking is there and seems to be getting louder. I've seen a physio and my doctor and both said it would subside after a while. It hasn't.

I don't have health Insurance and don't want to waste even more money going back to my GP to be told the same thing again.

Has anyone else had this type of problem or give any tips?
