I decided to buy lunch at the cafe across the hall from my department. (I was finishing off a $20 gift certificate I won.) I got a chicken gyro and fries. I normally have a protein shake. The gyro was really good and I haven't had fries in I don't know how long. I had to trash well over half of the fries...it was way too much food....
Thankfully the cafe puts up the nutritional value of whatever special they have going for the day so I knew the gyro was 550 calories. After I added the fries and ketchup and honey mustard (yes, I like to use multiple condiments), my meal was over 1000 calories! I'm HOPING I overestimated how many fries I really ate but who knew that 2tbsp of honey mustard had so much more calories than 2 tbsp of ketchup?!!? (Really!! It is 130 for honey mustard and 30 for ketchup! maybe its just the Ken's Steakhouse Honey Mustard that has that many calories, but I don't think I'll take that chance anymore.)
The reason I decided to buy lunch today (other than finished up the gift certificate) is because I am going to my first Zumba class tonight. It'll be my first time using my heart rate monitor but I'm hoping I'll make up enough calories so I can actually have dinner! (right now, I have 79 calories left for the day! lol)

Those condiments will get you every time!
FYI - I burn about 500 calories on the night I go to Zumba so I have to pro-actively eat more all day.0 -
Wow. I think the cafe where I work is like that as well... I've started boycotting it for price and calories! I save so much money if I just eat a $3.00 Lean Cuisine box o' food. Good luck at Zumba; I've always wanted to do that.0

Wow!! There's no way I wouldn't be going way over for the day.0

The bright spot in your 1000 cal lunch is that you KNOW its 1000 cals! Most people eat like that every day (and me included before I started this) and then have just as much for dinner. I think half the battle of getting fit is just being aware of what we are eating! Just try again tomorrow and have fun tonight!0

It feels so good to know that misery does love company. I went to Subway for lunch and had a 12" chicken sub and all the veggies and three cookies before I went I only used 175 cal for breakfast, but after eating at subway I now have 74 cals for dinner. Now the plan is to lift weights for 30min then hit the treadmill for 1hr now I will be able to have a very light dinner..........can't be good everyday have to learn from the mistake.......and about that honey mustard I buy the French's and it only has 10 cal per teaspoon.0

I should keep some of that at my desk....I'm sure the cafe has a contract with the company who brings their food to only use certain brands cause all the dressings other than the ranch were Ken Steakhouse...0 -
HOLY COW! :noway:  :noway:  :noway:
My heart rate monitor says I burned 1150 calories in that one little hour.
That definitely makes up for my ridiculous lunch!!0 -
lol so I actually did this same thing last night with chinese food...who knew 1/2 cup of Orange Chicken has almost 900cal!!!!! I guess yesterday was going to be my "cheat" day since I worked out as well and I think I was still 400-500cals over what I was supposed to eat.0
