When you can't log in a meal

When you order out from a place that doesn't have the nutrition facts, what do you do? We're having fish and chips tonight so it's really greasy..... : /

My parents pretty much said, "This is what we're having." They want me to stop beIng so obssessive over this counting and measuring thing because they said once in a while, having what you Really enjoy eating wont hurt. It's true that I've become obsessed and depressed when I deny myself meals I use to eat and enjoyed. We rarely eat out and especially fish and chips. When I order something from a "fast food" place, I go to the Pita Pit, I love them. And I can track my personal pita!

I just won't take a lot of fries... But the fish is what's the greasiest. Maybe I'll pat it down with paper towels or tissue to get some of it off. Might help a bit.

I need to rebuild lost muscle but I've gained fat in "replace" and I've lost my lean shapely figure. A pair of black skinny jeans are too snug to wear now... :( when before, they slid on perfectly. I've gained some inches everywhere and lose skin, really flabby.

I know I need to eat above maintance level to build muscle but I can't get this voice out of my head that tells me it's just going to store all that grease and calories as fat, even if it's rare meal. I want to stop thinking this and enjoy my food again like I use to, and not feel so guilty for having something that a very rarely eat or drink.

Then you need to eat it and move on.

One meal is not going to affect your overall weight loss.

As far as logging food from restaurants, i usually just break it down by ingredient i.e. type of fish, approximate size, etc. You can probably find some meals in the data base too (like sushi tuna roll 6 pc). I also tend to log on the high end. For example if the fish is tilapia and 1oz is 70 calories I may just log it as 100 calories to be on the safe side.

For something like Fish & Chips I might log it using a chain restaurant's information. You can try getting some of the grease off of the fish if you want. Just consider this when you are eating, more than likely ONE piece of the fish is enough, unless they are really small. You probably don't want to go more than 6 ounces which would be about the size of 2 decks of cards. And fries, use your own judgement. Probably don't more than 12 to 18 of those. Hope this helps!

Well I logged in the best I could with the best option on here, I think. I went over only by 6 I think. But it's just a guess. It would probably be around what I've logged anyways.

Most meals have got a close enough version to suffice for logging. It's not perfect, but it's better than the random quick add option or not logging at all.

I just try to find something similar in the database. If the calorie counts are all over the place, I pick on in the middle.

I agree with others. I have a local pizza place for lunch and they don't have calorie info. I just took another pizza place and I hope it's close.

If you are at the point where you need to eat a little more, one meal a week that you choose/force yourself not to count calories might be a good way to start.

That's what I did lol the best I could as to the closest. I rare rarely eat this so... Lol

I know this Sunday I might have some sweets....but I'll try not to go overboard. It's a special event and I don't want to deny myself something I fancy there. Monday I'm starting my routine again and start eating more. I've been mostly sitting for awhile now due to to energy at all and body pains, ect. Hopefully a bigger breakfast will give me the start I need, again.

I agree with your parents that it's good to step away from logging for a bit now and then, whether it's for a meal or a day or a weekend. Or longer.

But otherwise, I'd pick a similar entree from a chain restaurant and log it as a worst case scenario.

I believe if you type in 'chip shop' it comes up with something?
