Running and nausea

Does anyone else have problems with nausea when running? For me it usually kicks in about 3 miles into, maybe a bit earlier at times. It can get pretty bad, to the point of dry heaves. I am not sure if it is related to heat because I didn't have that problem running in the cold weather. I just started running this past winter. The other thought i had was maybe sinus drainage. Last time it happened I noticed i had some sinus stuff too. In the winter my nose runs like crazy so that wouldn't be an issue.

I usually don't eat before running. Is this good or bad. Help or hurt. Any help and input would be appreciated. I have a 5k in the morning. At least the weather will be pretty cool. In the 50s.

i feel nauseous if i eat too much too soon or nothing at all before running. also, drinking too much water(2 glasses) right before i step out the door, has proven a bad idea.
try having a snack 30mins-1h before you go out, and make sure you hydrate well (not just in the last minute before....)

I have found not being well hydrated can give me nausea, also your lower back (any issues in the L2L3L4 one of those) can have an impact on that as well. I also get physched out everytime I start a run (like I'm in the olympics its crazy, so I think maybe nerves can play a part).

I get nauseous from running if I am running really hard and too intensely. When I do track repeats or really fast tempo runs(too fast) I get nauseous. I am not sure if this is your issue or not, but it is a possibility.

I have the same issue some mornings and have to steer away from anything too acidic for several hours before running. Coffee, Orange Juice and other citrus fruits cause this. Also any spicy sauce the night before such as buffalo or other vineagar based dressing. Try an banana before running, it may help.

Thanks everyone, those are great ideas. I do think maybe running too fast might be an issue because it happens much more during a race than when I am just running on my own.
I will make sure I am hydrated and have a light snack. I usually don't eat at all in the morning before a race. I will test it tomorrow. Maybe toast??
I never ever take the water offered unless it is to just swish and spit. I cannot drink while running at all.

For me it's heat and humidity. What happens if you run on a treadmill?

I have never run on a treadmill. Weird, I know. I don't have room for one and I am an outdoorsy kind of girl. That is an interesting question though.

That is interesting. I do have some trouble with my "L's". I guess that is a good excuse to see Dr Cutiepie, I mean my chiropractor more often.

I'm not a big treadmill user either, but in the dead of summer, I find it's sometimes easier. Today when I got up to run it was 70 and humid. Some days that's fine. Some days, barf. I went to the gym.

If it is the same feeling I get... that is what you are supposed to push through =) Some people (Stronger than me....) will throw up and keep on going.

I could do that but I would die of embarrassment to barf at the finish line. I have come close a couple times. LOL
I once told the guy taking my chip off my shoe that if he didn't let me walk it off I was going to throw up on him. He said it wouldn't be the first time. Fun job!
