Weariful of using Insanity

So I was doing Insanity late last year and was doing great. I had a good routine going where I would do it before I went to work. But one day I was in the middle of the workout and I felt a sharp pain in my left calf. It felt like I pulled something (imagine if you will a sticky piece of bubble gum being pulled off of a hard surface) and couldn't even walk very well on that leg. I ended up going to work that day anyway but walked around with a limp for at least a week or so. After that I kind of stopped doing it and proceeded to gain a lot of the weight I lost back.
Fast forward to today: I am 211 lbs which is the lightest I have been in a long time. I have only been dieting and haven't done any exercising but I feel like I still need to work out. I want to get back into Insanity again because it seemed like it really worked but I guess I have this phobia of hurting myself again like I did before. Is this unusual? Is this something I just need to get passed and not worry about? Should I maybe not do it six times a week like is scheduled and do it three or four times a week?
Any input is appreciated.

3-4 times a week is better then not doing it all just start off like that and just push ur self to do it more, make sure u stretch well and dont strain ur body..
eat well and exercise and the weight will take care of itself0 -
It is not Insanity you are wary of it is injury. I tore a calf muscle, small tear, but this was around knotted muscle and all the stretching in the world is not going to remove knots and because of these knots you will only continue to get injury. So, massage therapist or if on a budget - tennis balls.
Tennis balls are now my friends for all kinds of self-massage or myofascial release. Youtube for instructions or a physio website.
These self-massages will hurt, knots need to go. Once the knots have gone, good stretching and keep on using the tennis balls.
Great job on the weight loss.0 -

Yeah that makes sense. I would like to follow the program to the T, but 3 or 4 times is indeed better than nothing. Maybe I wasn't doing enough stretching before.0 -

Yeah perhaps my wording was wrong in the topic. Lol.
Tennis balls? Wow I don't think I have ever heard of that. Off to YouTube I go I guess.

Stretch, stretch and stretch! I felt like I pulled something earlier this week doing Insanity and made sure I really stretched well the next day. I also followed Shaun T's advice and applied some ice. Think we stuck with the balance/recovery workout the next day too and felt ok after a day.
If something hurts in a bad way stop and stretch it out, maybe modify the moves if you need to. My knees can't always handle all the squat jumps so I just do squats for part of it.0 -

You will not, no , nay, never, stretch knots out of muscles. Stretching prevents knotting but once knotted only massage/manipulation will cure the problem.0
