Best vegetarian proteins?

I'm going back to vegetarianism after a brief hiatus (Actually, pescatarianism, but I only eat fish once or twice a week.)

I eat a lot of dairy products and try to incorporate tofu, but I'm always coming up really low on protein. What are the best high-protein foods for veggies?

Is whey protein vegetarian? I know it's not vegan, but for lacto veggies, is it okay?

I really like tempeh. You can marinate it just like you would tofu. The Trader Joe's brand is really good & it's pretty cheap. Here's a link to some recipes that use it: http://www.theppk.com/tag/tempeh/

I really like this plant-based protein powder called Life's Basics in Chocolate Flavor. I mix a scoop of powder in almond milk and ice.

I am trying to incorporate some Quorn products into my diet, I don't really like them but the protein content is good and I'm always low too. On top of that soy beans are high in protein and everything else the others have mentioned.

Quinoa (hope I am spelling it correctly)-it's a grain but supposedely loaded with protein as well as brocolli is also supposed to carry large amounts of protein.

I've been a vegetarian for almost 6 years now and I get in tons of protein. I eat a lot of beans, eggs, nut butters, nuts, quinoa, seeds, lentils, hummus, etc as whole food sources of protein. I like Gardein veggie burgers and "chicken" too, although not as good sources compared to the above list.

And yes, I believe whey protein powder are suitable for vegetarians.

    Quinoa

Also, Nutritional Yeast - I like to add lemon juice and nutritional yeast to steamed vegetables to give them a little protein boost.
