HRM Question

I STILL haven't gone out and bought a Heart Rate Monitor, but now I want to do so. It seems that there are two types: finger sensor, or chest strap. I guess I was thinking that I'd just wear something around my wrist.

What do most people use? Are the chest bands uncomfortable? Stupid question, but does it transmit through your clothes? I am considering the FT4 based on other posts I've read, and Amazon reviews.

Your input? Thank you!

I have the PFT4 and I love it. I never even notice I have the chest strap on. I've never tried wearing it outside of my clothes though so I'm not sure about that....

    I think it's worth it!

Get the one with a chest strap. They are more accurate. I was nervous about the chest strap being too tight. I am a big girl which is why I am exercising. Once you position it you forget it's there. I had to tighten it twice and then it was fine. They are more expensive but in the long run more worth it. Everything I read polar is better. I was impressed the transmitter was read my the treadmill at the Y. Very cool because I hate those handles.

BTW I bought the FT7. I was going back and forth between that and the FT4.

I have a New Balance N4 with a chest strap. Felt odd at first, but then I didn't even notice it. It goes under your clothes, I wear mine under the elastic band of my sports bra.

Polar does seem to be the most popular - after doing all my research I settled on either a Polar or the New Balance. I was shopping on eBay, so watched auctions for both models, but the New Balance came up first and I got a great deal on it. I'd like to try a Polar next time around just for the sake of comparison.
