I know today I am gonna go over my limit...what will the dam

I started with this site a little over a week ago and already I have lost five pounds. I attribute that to the daily exercise as opposed to the rarely any I would do before, and not so much to the fact I've made sure to be making good on my daily limits. However today is my birthday and I was originally gonna go to Red Robin for dinner before the bar, so I know in some capacity I am gonna go over somewhere. I'm not so worried about my calories going over since I wont go over that much, but more or less I'm worried about the fat grams. Because of eggs, I am gonna be going over my limit pretty much no matter what dinner I get tonight. I was thinking of Red Robin since I get a free birthday burger and well, that would be great. I checked and by removing the cheese and mayo I can greatly reduce it's negative effects. Or I can have some Mexican at a great place called Salsarita's but still, the fat grams will go over.
My question is though, if I've been doing good, and in most days going under on my fat gram intake, what affect, if any, would going over one day do to me, considering tomorrow I'll be able to go back to normal since I wont be eating out and what not? I'm a 24 year old male if that helps. So will this not really affect me as much as I fear it will come weigh-day next friday?
I am prone to over-worrying about things so I don't know if I am here or not.

Happy Birthday to you-Happy Birthday to you!!!! May it be a memory maker!!
Answer to your ?, I would go burn at least 350 calories before I went out to eat , watched my consumption throughout the day and do like you said and make healthy choices wherever I go! Also drinks lots of water to flush the salt side effects! You have done awesome, keep it up! May your birthday gift be another minus on the scale!!!0 -

I over worry about everything under the sun too, so you're certainly not alone in that!
One day is NOT going to kill you, have no fear! It's your birthday, ENJOY it! And Happy Birthday! :flowerforyou:
When I know I'm going to go over on a particular day, I try to get in some extra exercise, AND drink lots more water. Maybe you could do that if you're still worried about undoing what you've done so far.0 -
Thanks you two. I think you're right, I'll just exercise extra today. I did some strength training this morning but I'll go for a half hour walk, and probably fit in some Wii Fit Plus as well. Plus I'm certainly gonna have at least 9 glasses of water today if not more. I have this 24oz cup that I've been trying to fill up three times a day so I can hit my min and then some.
Thanks for the birthday wishes as well. I've only been here for a short time but I really love the pure positive attitude this place has. A very friendly forums indeed.
I'll just chill out a bit. Doing the math on all these things helps keep me involved in my weight since I'm a very logic-data oriented individual, but I've know about this day for a while and my plans, so I shouldn't let it ruin the fun. I'll have no problem going back to normal tomorrow at all.0 -
First, happy birthday! Second, here's some math for you to chew on (and I'm not an expert, this is just my understanind of how it all works):
In order to lose one pound of fat, you need to eat 3500 calories less than what what your bodies needs each week to function normally (it will then get those needed 3500 calories from fat storage). If you are on a "lose-a-pound-a-week" plan, then your daily deficit is -500, that way, by the end of the week, you will lose a pound.
So on your b-day, if you eat 1500 calories more than you are suposed to (but you are at your calorie limit all the other days of the week), then you will still have eaten 2000 calories less than your body needs to function that week. technically you won't lose a whole pound that week, but you'll still be losing.
But if you consume 3500 EXTRA calories on your b-day (that's 3500 more than your daily allotment), then you will not be gaining this week, but you will not be losing. Make sense?
Good luck and enjoy!
(on a sidenote: today it is saturday and i had four medium-sized meals today because i woke up early and stayed out late. i had about five drinks at a friend's house and some snacks and it totalled 1600 MORE calories than i should have eaten that day. it's not hard to go over by a lot).0 -
Lucky for you, your birthday is the only day of the year where calories don't count!!
That's my rule, anyways... and my birthday is less than 2 weeks away!
By the way, vhuber- you have awesome abs!0 -
The great thing about Red Robin, besides the free b-day burger, is they have a burger builder on their website. I spent a few hours on it one day custom making the perfect low-cal, delicious burger. I even managed to fit a serving of fries in! They show you how many calories each ingredient has. I recommend switching out their beef patty for a boca burger. It tasted just as good and was only half the calories (score!). Just be sure to write down your perfect burger once you dream it up so that you can translate it easily to the waiter/ress who will be serving you.
For the record, I did a boca burger, no bun, chopped up, served with chili, salsa & cheese over my fries. It was incredibly delicious.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!0
