Hi, my name is Jenny. I'm a receptionist at a local animal hospital in north-central Wisconsin and am engaged to a great guy named Chad.

We've been living together for over six years now, and in that time I've picked up quite a few of his not-so-healthy eating habits (he eats what he wants and never gains a pound!), so I'm here to try to undo all the damage I've done over that time! He's been trying to support me and is learning along with me what things are acceptable for me to eat and what things in our kitchen are just for him (chips and dip!)

I came across My Fitness Pal 100% by accident and haven't looked back since! Whenever I tried to go on a diet before, I would write down what I ate in a food diary and just guess the calorie amount for most foods, and now I'm actually measuring amounts and using the food search to find exact nutritional information! I love it but I so shocked with some foods that I thought were ok to eat (like a McChicken, no mayo from McDonald's- holy sodium, fat and calories!!!).

I'm very open to any support since I don't really have anyone else in my family, co-workers or friends who are trying to get fit and improve their diets. Thanks and good luck everyone!

It IS quite the eye opener, isn't it, when you see those numbers adding up for stuff we DIDN'T think was that bad for us! :noway:
The main reason that I've managed to lose the weight that I wanted to is that I HAVE been able to eat "real" food. (Not Slim Fast or other easy, quick, fad "wacko" diets!) Through MFP I learned that I just needed to "work for it", through exercise, and watching my numbers (MOST of the time.)
Before coming here, I tried just about EVERYTHING out there, including hypnosis, (TWICE) but nothing really worked. I always felt deprived of all the "good stuff" out there, and therefore, could only last just so long, and then I'd cave and be right back to eating all the "goodies" I wanted.
But then I came here, and started my new "lifestyle change", and as long as I "work with my numbers", I CAN occasionally have stuff like Chinese food, a double cheeseburger, pizza, and even homemade icecream!
MFP REALLY, REALLY, DOES work!

I love MFP. I remember my first week, I was addicted. It was like playing a video game-- how many calories can I come in under by!
The great thing about restaurants these days is that many of them have websites, and those websites have nutritional information & even meal planners! If you spend time on these websites, you find ways around the calories. It's still a good idea to try and avoid the naughty foods.
Oh, and never underestimate the filling power of veggies, water, and gum!
    Anyway, WELCOME!
