I would enjoy yourself and not worry so much about the food. You already know to avoid the fried things and as long as you don't go gonzo on the rice you'll probably do okay. One thing I like to go for in chinese restaurants is a string bean with chicken in black bean garlic sauce dish. I can find it at most chinese restaurants, its yummy and very filling. If you're really really worried, maybe make sure you workout that day to give yourself peace of mind?

Just remember, food isn't the enemy! You can enjoy food and still lose weight!

I shall bear it in mind when I eventually visit! I also need to visit a Cheesecake Factory and an Olive Garden until then I don't believe they're real places! Only things in sitcoms :P

I hope people in other countries don't think that Cheesecake Factory and Olive Garden are the best we have to offer.....

I suggest when you come you find the following: a good smokehouse (western BBQ), street tacos (the best ones are sold out of restaurants with wheels on them), artisan pizza, Pappadeaux's, and Chicago style hot dogs.

Eat what you like and enjoy it.

If you diet and torture yourself it will become a chore.

treat yourself, you wont gain 10lbs over one meal.

Train hard the next day and go back to your regular dietary eating and it will all balance itself out.

    This. Exactly.

Especially for a special occasion dinner.

Now, for every day dinners when you are eating out for convenience, I believe you need to make smart, healthy choices -- stick to steamed veggies, protein and sauce on the side with a little brown rice. Avoid egg rolls, crab rangoon, fried rice and anything excessively sweetened or fried.

I've found that Beef and Broccoli with a bit of brown rice isn't too bad. Shrimp and snow peas are okay. Just plan ahead.

Eat what you want and enjoy it,.if you limit everything you eat, everyday you'll fall off the wagon. Every once in a while going crazy and enjoying a meal just because you love it and it tastes good, instead of eating ____ because it has __ amount of callories is realistic. Allow yourself this meal without shame or guilt and enjoy it while realizing you haven't ruined a whole month of progress and you'll be back to your diet tomorrow.
