Anytime Fitness

Anyone have a membership here? Now that I'm getting into the dieting and weight loss routine, it's time to start getting into a weightlifting routine again. I have a membership at Planet Fitness which I just have not been using. I'm thinking of switching things up in hopes I will like a different gym better. There are a couple of Anytime Fitness locations near me, and I'm wondering if I should switch.

A couple of things which sound appealing about Anytime Fitness are fewer people exercising there (more privacy) and private bathrooms/showers.

Any opinions or recommendations is appreciated. Thanks

I took a tour of my local Anytime Fitness and I was appalled. It was way over priced for what you get (40 bucks a month). The place was small and did not have very much equipment or machinery. You also have to sign a one year contract. They would not let me do a month-to-month membership.

Not 100% sure what the price is yet. Their website says each location is independently owned and can set their own rates. I've done some google searches and the rates seem to be in the $32-38/month range

They were really unprofessional at the location near me. I managed to get a month to month membership and when I would go in to pay each month, the staff would literally look at me and ask how much I needed to pay-nobody could check their computer, payment logs, etc. ? When I didn't use my membership and tried to quit, they hassled me regarding previous "non-payment" for previous months. If each franchise is independently owned, you may have a different experience.

They are francises so you get Really mixed results based on location. I thought about joining but the one near me gets terrible reviews.

My husband and I absolutely love the Anytime Fitness gym in our town. Love the convenience of 24/7. As for price check with your insurance. We get a discount on membership through ours.

i'm a member at Anytime Fitness and if I were you, I would honestly keep looking. The price is way too expensive for the amenities offered and it's far too small. The free weight section is also lacking, mine doesn't have a squat rack or a regular bench (has a Smith Machine for bench pressing). Also, there's only 4 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 2 crosstrainers, and 4 stationary bikes..that's it, as far as cardio machines are concerned. They've just started offering classes that you have to pay an additional fee to attend, and if you're interested in tanning or whatever, that's pretty expensive too.

    Pros:
    Location
    Hours
    Private bathrooms/showers
    WIFI

    Cons:
    Expensive
    No pool,sauna,steamroom,etc
    Small & crowded
    Lacking free weight section
    did I say Expensive?

It's possible that the A.F's vary by location, so you should stop into your local club and take a look around.

$30 bucks a month, open 24/7/365, you have access to all their locations, free classes, private showers and bathrooms, great equipment. I'm quite happy with the handful that are around here! But, they are franchises, so there are differences depending on location. All the ones I've seen have adequate things like free weights, machines, etc.

It's not a luxury gym and that's fine. I've done those for twice and triple the amount and wasn't happy.
