Hike to the top of a mountain

Options
Sort of a NSV. An old buddy from high school and I went out on a hike. 1400m elevation gain. 5 hours up and 4 hours down. Going up was a breeze. I easily kept pace with my buddy. He is a seasoned hiker, so I felt good about keeping up. On the way down I started to fade at about 3/4 the way down. This was last Thursday. Still feeling a bit sore in the thighs. Was a lot of fun. I could not have done this 7 months ago.

http://imgur.com/gUsv0 about a 300 degree panarama from the top.

Wow. Those mountains make our mountains look like molehills.

Going down is always harder. Seems counterintuitive. It's actually because you're working against gravity. Glad you had such a super day! That's where I'm headed. To the Top. And gosh I know that area inside out. NEED to get back to it. I grew up not far from there.
