Weight Watchers Points

I did Weight Watchers online and I was successful at first but that tapered off after a couple weeks. I understand the points are calculated according to the nutritional content but does anyone know how "points" compare to calories? I was allowed 26 points per day but I'm wondering how that translates into how many calories per day. For instance, one banana is 0 points, even if more than one is consumed - but calorie-wise this would be extremely high if more than one is consumed in a day's time. I'm thinking that may be the reason for my lack of weight loss after the first couple of weeks - i.e. 26 points = too many calories?

The old points system was an easy calculation:
(kj/293) + (sat fat/4) = points .... with all veg except potato being "point free"
the new system is more complex and the exact calculation wasn't published to my knowledge. It has to do with kj's, protein, carb and total fat content with all fruit and veg being "point free".
So simple answer... 26 points does not equal a set number of calories and yes if you over ate fruit and veg you could go over calories required for weight loss, but the point was to train yourself not overeat on fruit and veg just because it doesn't count towards your daily points.
I used to do ww... can calculate the old point system in my head without a calculator just by looking at a nutritional panel.... but mfp is better and more precise.0 -
1 point = 40 calories
Ignore the stuff about fruit and veg being 0 points as of course they contain calories.0 -
A WW point is about 40 calories. So 26 points is about 1040 calories PLUS your fruit and veg.0

I found the formula online which I tested and found it worked. The last part of the equation subtracts 11 points from the total. My guess is that this 11 points accounts for the 49 weekly points and fruit and veg. Therefore they are allowing 4 points for fruit and veg which is around 160 calories. Many people will eat more than 160 calories fruit and veg. I still lost weight when I was on the plan though so can't knock it.0
