Shopping - NSV or Complete Mind Eff

I went shopping the other day and thinking I was going to be able to shop in all of these normal stores, I was really excited. Then I started looking, lo and behold, they only went up to a size L. What. the. hell?! Is XL now a plus size?!
Have any of you had to deal with these kinds of blows to your self esteem and such?

It depends on where you're shopping. Like I know Old Navy has things in bigger sizes but their sister store Banana Republic carries smaller sizes...usually because even if they won't say it they don't want to associate their line/styles with bigger customers.0
