Happy Monday everyone!!!
Just wanted to post a quick update from this post I made last week:
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/708464-am-i-being-unfair
I was very hesitant to go out to dinner with my family for my birthday because I didn't want any temptation and take a chance in eating something I shouldn't. I also didn't want to go out and have my family spend over $100 for a meal when food isn't that important to me these days. I eat to eat, I enjoy what I eat but I'm trying not to make all social events centered around food. So anyway, this is how my birthday weekend went:
Went out with some friends for live music Saturday night. Looked online before I went out to see what was better to drink, light beer or rum & diet coke. I ate homemade turkey burgers before I went out. My friend insisted on buying me drinks, which I did appreciate, And I sure didn't wanna be a party pooper so I had 3 Michelob Ultra's. My sister (who also watches her weight) was out with us and on our way home we were hungry of course and were craving Mexican. MMMMM taco bell!!! But we fought off the urge and both went home hungry.
I had a brainstorm! There is a Mexican restaurant nearby where I used to work that has awesome food. My family loves it there. So, we went out for Mexican! OMG the chips & salsa!!! This place makes their own salsa and it's the best! But, while they were all eating the chips and salsa, I drank my water and chewed gum so I wouldn't be tempted to munch on the chips. I ordered a grilled chicken salad without the taco shell, just in a bowl. And I used the salsa as dressing. Mmmmm that stuff is soooooo good! Then when I finished my meal, I took another piece of gum so again, wouldn't be tempted to pick on anything else at the table.
I got on the scale this morning, as I always do, and down almost another pound!!!! So when I have my weigh in on Friday, should be awesome and my birthday weekend didn't ruin it.    :drinker:

Hey!
I remember your original post, and thanks a bunch for the update! I wish all the posts I read give the end results, that way you can learn better from them.
Also, sounds like you had a super awesome birthday and you are probably the most disciplined person I've ever heard of, you did awesome! Talk about pleasing everyone (yourself included!)
Glad to hear it all went as well as possible, and congrats on the loss, that makes for a great bday gift!0 -

Thanks! That means a lot. I only have such goof self control now because I'm finally seeing results and can't blow it!
I also forgot to mention at the gym Saturday morning for my usual kickboxing/martial arts class, a girl that I see there every so often but don't really talk to, (see her there and many others, since we all take the class regularly), came up to me and said "I've been meaning to tell you, you're looking really good! I can tell you're losing weight" I thanked her sooooo much and boy did that make me feel AMAZING on my birthday! YAY!!!! :drinker:  :drinker:0 -
Great job! I need to learn from you. I went to an engagement party dinner on Saturday, and I ate everything. I was really irritated with myself the next morning when the scale was up a pound. I have to spend the next couple of days making up for that one. I'll think about your good choices next time and try to do the responsible thing.0

I read your previous post.. and I read this one.
I don't think you were being unfair, but I think you are being awfully restrictive when it comes to your diet.
This is a lifestyle change after all.. which means going out for birthdays, holidays etc and learning to enjoy them while staying in check.0
