It's totally possible! I've lost 20 pounds in about 7 weeks. For me it didn't feel as difficult as I expected - I've radically changed my diet, but I still eat foods that I love. Lots of lean protein - turkey and fish, whole grains, and lots of fresh fruits and veggies. I allow myself a little treat every day - a cup of hot chocolate or a vita-muffin or something like that - it helps me feel not-deprived, but doesn't ruin my eating. I workout a couple of times a week. Drink LOTS of water and get enough sleep.

If you do all this, and eat the calories that MFP recommends each day based on your desired weight loss, then you will lose weight. People lose at different rates, but if you keep it up and change your habits, you will lose it eventually. I eat at least half my exercise calories - it's kind of a controversy on here - some people do, some people don't, people have been successful either way.

Find a routine and foods that work for you and you will succeed. Just remember - it has to be something you could do for the rest of your life! It's a lifestyle change, not a diet.

Feel free to look at my food diary.
  • I'm in the same boat, nasty divorce. Would you like to keep this thread going? I could use a buddy.
  • count me in. I lost 15lbs this time last year and gained it all back. I've gotten so careless! I could use motivation and support to get back into the swing of things. I'd like to loose 20lbs by March 21st, which is the LA marathon because I plan on running it!
