It takes time to develop new habits. Over time, a lot of this will become second nature, but it takes some time. Be patient with yourself.

I always look at my "report" at the end of the week, and average it out. I almost always find that if I'm "over" one day I'm "under" another day, so it evens out over the long term.

What also helps is that I often plan my day in advance, and enter the food the night before or in the morning. It's way easier to change your mind before you eat the food.

And, nobody is perfect. We all go over sometimes. At least I do.:flowerforyou:

Oh no...I NEVER go over my calories, Ok, so i lied. But what Viv said is pretty true, some days are good and some are bad but they all even out. If it is bothering you, like me sometimes, I just go take a brisk (and boy is it brisk here) walk and burn off some of the excess. That way I don't feel as though I have failed.

Thank you!! I dont get to exercise as much as i would like because i have 3 small children, but i do it when i can.

I lost all my weight after my 3rd child, but stepped back into some old habits and gained it back.. I will be glad to get back down again..
  • Just take it one day at a time. You will get used to doing things differently. It took me a bit just to get it out of my house cuz I don't like to just throw stuff away. Just try eating the proper servings and try not to over eat. It will come. I hear ya on the working out part. I have a 8 month old and I struggle everyday with it. It usually comes down to her climbing all over me while I do my workout. Some days it is hard but I have a goal in mind and I just keep telling myself I can do it.
Just do what you can, and don't get down on yourself.

aw no worries....its all about learning how to live for the rest of our lives....learning to make better choices etc...like everyone has said!!!

I know its hard though, I too had a really hard time, and still do getting out to go exercise because of work and my son...but I have found ways around it to get my exercise in and I'm sure you'll figure things out as you go too! I now will put on my exercise tape while my son is playing or watching a video....and I'm not goin to lie, I do get my interuptions ha ha....ah the joys of motherhood right! but I just either pause or restart and it usually works out!

As for food, oh boy I'm learning how to make better volume choices....w/ me I felt like I needed a lot to fill myself so I chose foods like a really huge salad w/ tons of steamed or raw veggies, grilled meat like chicken or salmon about 3 oz and a really yummy vinergarette....the bulk filled me up w/out pushing me over my limit that day.....things like that.

I really wish you luck and you go girl for losing all that weight after no 3!!! you'll definitely get there again!

  • Hi there Buffjess,

My name is Desti and I joined this website in january of this year. I started out at 187 and now I am 170. I found through search and people that have been on a successful lifestyle change with food is that you should eat 5 small meals a day.

Example,...8:30 am breakfast cereal and milk
11:00 am snack,,,only one thing..like a banana or orange or kellogg snack bar.
1:30pm lunch salad or boca burger(garden ) or etc.
4:00 pm snack again anytime small
    6:30 pm dinner
if you follow this....eating every 2 and 1/2 hours you keep your metabolism moving and along with 8 glasses of water you will train your body to only want food at those times. If you still get hungry at night drink water this will keep you feeling full.

i have always been a yo yo dieter, but this time I am making this a lifestyle chance NOT a diet to hate.
It takes time, but this website and group of people are really cool....I also exercise 2 hours a day. Find something that you REALLY, REALLY like to do as an exercise. .For Christmas I bought myself Tony Little's Gazelle it's like a ski machine and burns 550 calories an hour. It folds to go under the bed and out of sight when I am not working out. I work out twice a day for an hour each.

I hope this helps you, enjoy this website it offers a lot of support.....:smile:

It is really hard at first, but like others said, plan snacks so you are never starving. I always have a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack. It keeps me from overdoing it at meals. I also learned fast that a delicious 100 calorie pack of oreos doesn't do anything for my hunger, but an apple does. I have started making choices based on "what will fill me up so I last until dinner" rather than "what would be really yummy right now." I also agree that planning your day out helps you avoid going over.
