Arm Weights and a Treadmill Workout Together

Do you ever workout on the treadmill with weights on? Do you build up your stamina with the weights the same way you build up your intensity and duration? Would you build to the maximum speed and incline you are capable of and then add the weighs to increase the calorie burn? What works for you?

    No, the extra weights at the end of your extremedies can put un-needed stress on your joints (from what I've seen and read). Would be more interested in a weight vest.
