I can't give you any tricks for "the last few pounds." I can give you tips about motivation. First, spend a few minutes asking yourself why you're trying to lose these last few pounds. Write it down. Make a sign. Whatever you need to do to remember why these few pounds are important to lose. The reason has to be more than numbers on a scale. Then focus on the true outcome you want-better health, better fitting clothes, or whatever it is. Focus on that instead of the numbers and you'll get there.0

The last five pounds are always hard to lose. Make sure that's the right weight for you. If you are very muscular, you may need the extra five pounds. I can't tell you how to lose that weight, but as the lady above me said, don't concentrate on the numbers. It's important to know what your motivation is to get to that number and concentrate on those reasons. Otherwise, concentrate on how you look, how your clothes fit, how you feel.0

Try less hard.
That's what worked for me. I think of it like trying to knock down a tree. I can push and push and push with all my strength, and I'll be working really hard, but that tree won't budge.
If I use knowledge and the right tools, I can take that tree down with a lot less actual effort.
For me, that knowledge was eating the right amount of calories and the right deficit for the amount I had to lose and getting adequate nutrition. The tools were regular exercise including strength training.0 -
the last few pounds are the hardest to lose... make sure you only have a very small deficit (ie 1/2lb per week and eat back your exercise cals) and try changing your routine... an extra rest day and a new activity a couple of times a week can do wonders!0

I know the feeling. I have come to agree with what many others have said here in this thread. We have to remember it's more then just a number. It's overall health.
I just have to trust the process and believe the lbs will come off, just don't give up on everything else I have already accomplished.0 -
My successful strategy for those last few pounds. I don't know if these were actually helpful or if I would have made it anyway, but I hope it helps:
- Made a strong effort to get a large amount of my carbs from veggies and fruits
- Added to my workout routine a once a week moderate jog / run early in the morning, before eating any food, and after drinking iced green tea for energy
- Continued with my normal routine of 3x a week strength training and 2x a week cardio, with usually something active on the weekends.
- RELIGIOUS tracking of calories, and eating at a set amount daily. I did some math for what I would burn for the week and ate at 2,400 calories per day
- Planned my meals out for the day ahead of time to hit my macros. I'd log my major meals and then eat around them to meet my goals. (50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat)
It also helps to have no life other than fitness.0 -
Take a 2 day break! Seriously! I don't mean to just go crazy with your diet, but tone down any exercise you may be doing for just 2 days. I had *intentionally* exercised everyday for over a month, and I was tired! I stopped (except for logging my walking) for 2 days, returned on Monday, weighed myself, and had still lost 2 pounds! Sometimes, giving your body a small break, reinvigorates it and can knock it out of that plateau!0

When my motivation is waning, I go back and review my MFP bio and goals to remind myself why I'm doing this. Not every day/month/year will go smoothly tor us, so it's important to keep your goals in front of you like a road map to give you strength to perservere.
A good friend of mine here on MFP wrote a blot called "The Grind" it's worth reading

Thanks guys
Its just frustrating when you stand on them scales and they just stare back at you with nothing
I know its about the whole package being fitter and healthier I know I wont ever give up
I feel 100 times fitter and healthy and happier in myself then I did months ago ... I need to remember Rome wasn't built in a day I think i do over kill the exercise but I love them feeling I get from it and miss that when I dont do it  but i know that might be an idea0
