Just for fun because I'm bored.

185lb deadlift, my form is a little off though:

bad link but I'd like to see the lift

I have a deadlift video on www.youtube.com/charliebrooke08 along with some bench and squatting vids.

No expert or super human but I'm happy with my progression :D

    Really? Works for me.

Here's my "channel". Has some other videos too.

  • I love them (almost as much as I love squatting ... but I don't think a love of squats is all that common).

Someone else who loves squats?! I LOOOOVE squats! :)

I love them too! High bar, low bar, front, box! All of them!

I thought it was common to love squats lol. Esp for females since it's usually their strongest lift starting off. I love all my powerlifts equally I think but want to see some bigger numbers in my deadlift more than anything. For some reason I've had the slowest progress on that particular lift.

Your facial expression cracks me up. 160 is awesome for your size.
  • In addition to having some lifts on my channel, I've got an example of exactly what I mean when I saw cat back on deadlifts. LOL who wants to see my early, terrible lifting?

    good channel: youtube.com/charliebrooke08

    link to BAD lift: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IzihZ-5lQ4&list=UU5h_xbYa5eMLmRhVGmTuEvg&index=2&feature=plcp

Yeah, definitely try bringing your chest up more. Pretend like you want someone to be able to read the logo on your chest. You can see how your back slumps forward as you start trying to lift the weight. I have a little bit of this problem too, there is a little hump in my lower back that I am having a tough time getting rid of. It's like my body is proportioned strange so I can't straighten out my back 100%. My arms need to be like an inch longer.

Yeah, your form is awesome (though somewhat hard to tell from the front). I'm also jealous.

why do you drop the weights between each rep?

I dont drop the weight after a rep. I put it back down as lightly as possible. Hits the abs real good.

You'll know your deadlift form is good if you're feeling it in your hamstrings the next day. Thats usually my sorest muscle after doing heavy deads. Lift the weight with your legs and your pelvis and keep that back straight!

Depends on where your weakness lies partially. My hamstrings have never been sore from conventional deads, only from stiff leg deadlifts do I feel it in my hamstrings. You should be pulling with your back not just lower body, that's why back "thickness" bodybuilders talk about is often attributed to heavy deadlifts.

I too never drop the weight. You aren't getting the full benefits of the lift if you do.

Everyone film themselves doing deadlifts and we'll make a topic in a few days so we can all scream out in a war cry of love for iron and chalk!

Mainly because I can . But really I've read that the "negative" on deadlifts is useless and often dangerous. However, it's annoying to drop them (apparently) so I've stopped. I still don't set it down nicely however. I let it fall pretty hard.

I fight the negative till I get past my knee and then I let it drop (controlled).
