addiction to a sport ?

Hi,
Over the last few years, I got very much into swimming - doing at least 2 kilometers, 4 to 7 times a week.
Last week I got a bad burn on my leg and was strongly advised not to swim until it healed. I'm only on my fourth day out of the pool and I am going INSANE. I have been exercising in different ways but as soon as I am not active I feel very stressed (I am not a stressed person at all), down, bored and am very impatient and irritable.

Has anyone else felt that kind of withdrawal from swimming or another sport? How did you deal with it? It's particularly difficult when I have to sit at my computer all day..

Yep. Been there done that. As a runner I was sidelined by ITBS for 6 weeks. My advice is find a different fitness related activity that you can pour yourself into during that time period. I happen to be a triathlete so I had 2 other options that didn't stress my IT band out too much so I was good to go. Also filled the void with some lifting.

Another ITBS victim - last year I missed 6 weeks of running. It drove me insane - my wife said I wasn't that cranky when I quit smoking.
