A c25K Question

Hi all,
I have been contemplating doing the c25k (contemplating, not actually planning). Somehow I do not have the confidence. I was thinking about doing each day twice or thrice before going to the next day. Sure, it will take longer than normal to reach the 5k level, but just thinking about c25k in 2 months leaves me cold. I am nearing 50, and have been a couch patato, so I am not sure this discomfort about doing in 2 months is "my wise self" or my lack of confidence.
Does anyone here know whether it is OK to repeat a day till you go to the next or not? I could not find it on the site. Thanks

Yes. You can totally work the plan to suit your fitness level. When I started it, I had to repeat weeks b/c I just did not have the endurance.
As with any exercise plan, do what is right for your body/fitness level. If you try to push too fast, you can get injured.
But most importantly..... have fun with it!0 -
you can repeat each day as often as you like until you're comfortable to move on to the next.
also - the "pause" function works great on the app (i've used that more than once).
give it a shot - i'm sure your confidence will build as you go through the program.
one piece of (unsolicited) advice - definitely take the rest days in between - your legs will thank you for it.
good luck!0 -
As a "40 something" out of shape guy, let me assure you that the C25K is the way to go... if you feel the need to repeat, by all means do so...
What I would suggest, is to do each day until you can not complete a day as scheduled, then repeat that day as needed to keep up. You will be surprised at how quickly your body will adjust to it. I had planned on repeating several weeks just because I didn't think I could do it... guess what- I didn't need to. I guess what I'm saying is that you shouldn't handicap yourself unnecessarily.
I also agree with resting between days. I think it's well set up as weeks. I always used the 2 days off after day 3, and kept my weeks to true weeks. On off days I either rested or worked out with weights.
Once you get started you will kick yourself for procrastinating!!0 -
I'm only 24, but I've never ran a day in my life.. I despised running and wanting nothing to do with it unless it was saving me from an ax-murderer!
Then I decided what the heck, downloaded the C25K app to my phone and started. Weeks 1 and 2 flew by easily.. and then I hit a roadblock around Weeks 3 and 4. The running was getting longer, the walks shorter and I was sure I could not run for that long.. but I did.
Trick is to go slow... like really slow. C25K is not about speed or distance... it's about getting out there and doing something you think you can't do.
Need to repeat weeks/days? Fine... nothing says you have to follow the program exactly as it comes.0
