Where is tahini located in your grocery store? I know that I've found it at Meijer before, but when I was looking for it the other day I couldn't find it anywhere :grumble: Help!

It is usually where the peanut butter is. Although not all stores carry it. I usually buy it from King soopers or a health food store.

It'll either be near the PB or in the asian food section.

Try the organic section near the nut butters.

  • At my local Giant, it's by the hummus over with some specialty cheeses and kosher meats. Ask a store employee perhaps.

At giant eagle its by the international food section... but its like 10 bucks a jar!

Try looking for local ethnic food shops. It should be a better price there.

PS: If you're making your own hummus... have you tried Trader Joe's? I just bought some yesterday...have yet to try it.... but compared to other grocery stores, its CHEAP! :)

Oh, how I wish I could try Trader Joe's.......I think the closest one to me might be in Chicago??? About 3-3.5 hours away. The drawbacks of living in a small town sure do come to life when you want unusual or exotic food - especially being a vegetarian.

I know all about the vegetarian thing...I've been one my entire life, it wasn't until I was about 10 that we got tofu in the local stores.
Have you tried any online stores?

I've thought about it but never followed through.....maybe I'll do a little research. I'm going to my sister's next week and she lives about an hour from DC.....might see what kind of stores she's got by her and load up a cooler with some goodies when I head home

    Try www.vitacost.com

The site is a little hard to navigate but the products are great. On the top bar...go under 'more' and it'll bring you a list of everything, just scroll down to 'food and grocery'. They have things that are kinda hard to find in regular stores.

The guy at Whole Foods said that they have been having problems stocking it. Apparently there is a shortage of sesame seeds. It may just be out of stock.

There's been a shortage of fruits and veg everywhere. Bad weather.

PS: For those of you who have a Trader Joe's.. it was AMAZING.

Also.. if you guys have a China Town or a Little Asia, or even an asian community, look for tofu there. The cheapest tofu and widest variety I've seen ever. (I went to the Asian Market today and cant wait to go back!)
