So I've been terrible lately. I can't get my eating under control and just can't seem to be motivated to lose this last 12ish lbs. How do I get back to where I was 3 weeks ago???

I have no answers. Just wanted you to know you are not alone in your struggle.0 -
Having the same problem, I think maybe setting a new goal or reward might help. :bigsmile:0

I've been having motivational trouble also. What I decided over the weekend was to look at old pictures of myself and promise myself I didn't want to be like that anymore. So, I have started off by allowing myself 1 treat a day and getting the rest of my eating under control. And since I don't want to avoid all the yummy holiday food, I have put extra effort into working out.
Cold weather leaves me feeling sluggish. However, I know I can do this and I think you know you can too. Moping won't help.
I found once you get back up and going, you realize how good you felt and the motivation starts flowing again.
Good Luck.0 -
You've lost 34 pounds! That's a success! Think about that for a minute and savor it. Just relax and realize what you've already done. Don't beat yourself up too much about falling off. Think about how good it feels to be this weight and your control will come back.0

I've been working hard at getting back to where I was 4 1/2 months ago... I'm in the same rut you are in right now and hating the fact that I can't get these last few pounds off. That's when I decided to join this site... hopefully I can get the motivation from here. I'm having a hard time controlling my eating... my struggle is with sweet things: chocolate, cookies, ice cream... it's so hard! If there's anything I can do to help you out, let me know! I need some encouragement as well... to get me back on track! I think my motivation is when I start looking at all the things I've eaten throughout the day as I log it into my food tracker and realize that I've either overdone it, I try to work out more or do better the next day by having fewer calories.0

I am with you! Dark, cold weather + Holidays approaching does not equal weight loss.
My new goal until after Christmas is to just MAINTIAN ... I have upped my calories to lose 1/2 lbs a week (was at 1.5 lbs a week). Enjoy the weight you have lost and get through the Holidays. To me that will be worth celebrating!0 -
I have had horrible motivation problems and am constantly being tempted to give into the candy bars and sit and watch another program on HBO instead of get my butt off to the gym.
Its obviously the mind set you put yourself in, but its also outside sources that influence the way you act and the decisions you make as well. If you have an exercise buddy, that's a very good way to get yourself motivated to get to the gym.
Maybe remind yourself of how great you're going to look once you've lost the last 12 pounds! Play out situations in your head of how other people will react to your improvement and your appearance, that way you'll be more motivated to make that fantasy a reality.
The eating temptations can be conquered as well. One fool proof way is to never keep temptations in reach, so don't keep sugary cereal or ice cream in the kitchen. I you want ice cream, as an occasional reward, keep low fat or fat free choices, or maybe frozen yogurt. there are always great alternatives for dessert foods for those times you just cant resist.
The best way to keep yourself motivated is to always keep in mind that end result and how your friends and family and people o the street will think of your new, healthy looking body. Remind yourself that fit, healthy people don't eat baked potatoes with cheesy sauce and bacon bits for lunch. They have fresh spinach with an olive oil and vinegar sauce and feta bits instead.
Find the inner strength and take a good look at how far you've come, and feel the success. You've gotten this far, 12 lbs will be a piece of cake! If that isnt enough to support yourself, try looking for support from your friends and family, the people who care about you. They'll always lift your spirits in times of need.
