Unfit Father of Four at Forty...

Well... unhealthy, at least. :ohwell:

One would think that raising four kids would keep one fit and trim. Apparently that is not the case, at least not in my experience. Actually I've been overweight/obese since about six months after my wedding to my loving bride, who guided me here and is helping me along. We married in 1996 and my lifestyle and diet changed so instantly and drastically as to pack on 50 lbs in the first six months.

It's now sixteen years later and I'm working on it. I've teased my demons with gym membership and various diets in years-passed but to no great affect. I've spent less than two weeks in this effort and I'm down 10lbs, so I'm digging the progress to date. My goal is to lose another 40 lbs and be a good role model to my kids (g10, g7, b2 and b2) and healthy groom to my loving bride.

Wish me luck!

The first steps are always the hardest!

    I know!

I was a few weeks away from my 46th birthday and tipped scale on the wrong side of 275lbs!

It took 6 months to break 200 lbs and another 3 to break 190.

I am now in better shape than at any time since I met my wife or since my children were born! In fact, I am in better shape now than I was in high school!

You can do it! Just start making different choices each day. After a while, these new choices become your habits. From there it improves daily!

All the best on your journey.

I was 42 years old when I realized that if I didn't get my act together, I may not be around to see my daughter grow up. Already she was doing so much without me - cycling, throwing the ball around, swimming, playing catch, etc. I wasn't doing any of that. 1.) I was too heavy and was huffing and puffing after 2 minutes. 2.) I was uncomfortable with my size and felt silly doing all those things. 5 years and 65 lbs later, I'm still working at it. But I feel so much better and I get to do so much with her and my husband now.

Feel free to add me as a motivation buddy if you'd like .

Good luck! You've made a good start already.

My 3 year old and 1 year old keep me pretty active! I've lost 6lbs over the past 4 weeks probably from chasing them around (I'm a teacher so on Summer hols and they're not at nursery).
