Does it matter: Mixing protein shakes hours early?

So I read something along the lines of - protein shakes are not designed to be mixed with water/milk hours before you drink it. That one should mix it only if they plan to drink it immediately.
Does this really matter? If I mix my protein shake in the morning and drink it in the evening, am I getting less benefits?

Benefit loss, probably not.
Taste/consistency, probably.

They sometimes just go a bit manky if you drink ages after making it0
