My motivation and staying motivated

I have an objective of getting into law enforcement. It could be county, state, federal level. I don't care (too much). My preference, though, would be federal level (FBI or CIA). You see, I just got accepted into a Master's degree program for Criminal Justice. It will take about 20 months to complete my program. By the time I complete my program, I want to have lost enough weight and be fit enough to complete the physical fitness tests any of the agencies use. I am nowhere near that point as of this moment, but I have 20 months to get there. I know that does not mean I can slack off for most of that time. That will NOT get me the results I am after.
Now, I spend a lot of time complaining about my situation and how my home life is nothing but a hindrance to my objectives. To an extent, this is true. However, I have come to realize I am not doing enough to change it and work with the people around me. I live in a place that is completely disorganized and cluttered. To an extent, messy. Dirty dishes, dirty laundry everywhere, etc. Everyone in my house is lazy. That is the problem. Example: I washed all the dishes, then made a giant batch of breakfast burritos and froze them all for future breakfasts. I washed most of the dishes as I went, but by the time I finished wrapping and freezing the burritos it was 2 o' clock in the morning. I needed to go to bed. The next day, I got busy doing other things, making sure I had everything done and ready for my school, then go to work. No time to do the dishes. Friday, my dad was of work. I had to work in the morning, planned to come home and wash dishes. Got to my car, checked messages, and sure enough, my dad sent me a text saying I had done a great job getting all the dishes done, and the flies were starving, but they were just coming back with the leftover dishes from my breakfast burritos. I was thinking "Excuse me, I have been too busy to do anything. You were home today, doing nothing but laying in your bed watching Netflix all day. You couldn't have gotten up and washed all three dishes?" So Saturday, before going to work, I washed them since I finally had time.
Getting back on track now, I was just talking about how I spend a lot of time complaining. Well, I spend too much time complaining. I am going to try to stop with the complaining, because that doesn't help my situation at all. I realized that I do not do enough to change the situation I am in. So, going back to the whole Master's degree program I mentioned before and wanting to go into law enforcement.
With the house the way it is, I do not have space, or even a desk, to put my computer at to do school work once classes start. Right now, I keep my computer on my lap when I use it and set it on my chair when I am done. So I have determined I will lead my family by example, and start getting things organized. I am starting with the room I sleep in, because that will give me the most privacy when trying to do school work. I have a lot of work to do in there, but I am already seeing a big difference, and my mood is improving as well. The rest of the house will slowly get into proper condition also. I just have to lead by example and stay diligent with things. Once I am content with my own personal space, and start expanding outwards, I think I will be ready to do more exercise than just cleaning. Not that I don't right now, but it will be easier for me to increase it.
So, I am going to make myself happy with the work I do around the house, and build up my exercise to get physically fit for law enforcement. I have 20 months to accomplish my goals. Off I go!
